The protector of the settlement is St. Jelena virgin and martyr. There are not many written traces about the origin of the town of Dramalj. It is not known whether these traces existed at all, but it is suspected that part of them was burned in the fire that engulfed the church in Belgrade to which Dramalj belonged at the time. Toponyms indicate that the place itself was created very early. Dram was the first settlement to be established in the area, and it dates back to the 6th-7th century. A dram was an ancient Greek measure of weight. When the Croats came to this area, they had no intention of completely renaming the names of the settlements they found, so Dram was only adapted to the Croat language of the time, so that the suffix - alj - Dramalj was added.
